Mike Spisak and the Bad Karma formed in March of 2018 when the current members performed at the University of South Carolina Upstate’s commencement ceremony. Frontman Mike who graduated from USC Upstate asked current Commercial Music major and bass player Mason Painter to bring his talent to a funk/pop band. When seeking a lead guitarist, they turned to Max Price, who owns Black Sneaker Souls recording studio in Greenville, for his skills and industry expertise. Lastly, drummer and Georgia Southern graduate Jason Newton became the time keeper and rounded out the most versatile cover band in the area. While they are proficient in writing their own songs, M.S.& B.K. typically perform classic Motown, funk, rock, soul, and pop to wow the crowd with covers they can dance and sing along to.
